I was just reading your E mail when Earl came in with a
package... it was from you!!! Your finished "Interpreting
the Songs of Jacques Leguerney." I love the cover... purple and
white and really looks good. He is already reading it over!! and is
impressed!!!! So that is a feather in your cap, as it comes from him. You
did a good job, Mary... and I bet you are glad it is finished and published.

 | Dear Mary,
Now I have received both your Leguerney and Hoffmann
tomes from Pendragon and can only say CHAPEAU / BRAVO / FELICITATIONS
.....etc, etc., for your splendid work. The Leguerney is such a beautifully
done study and tribute to the composer, whom I never knew as you did, and it
is so tastefully and thoroughly executed in EVERY way.....a true labor of
love! The Hoffmann is masterful and indeed I had forgotten just how much so
since it's been a few good years since I've perused it.
True feathers in your cap, both of them, and I can't congratulate you
enough.....

--Jean-Christophe Keck

 | I love the Hoffmann book!! Thank you so much for
writing it, it's just delicious. Just got it last night and am digging
through it today. You have helped me soooooo much with my French and I feel
like the book is a continuation. Much love, je t'embrasse,
--Joan Eubank

 | Dear Mary,
Thank you again for sending that great Carmen translation. I found it
very useful, especially this year, when I’m doing 3 of them! All the best,
--Dean Williamson, conductor, Seattle, WA
|
 | Congratulations on your books. I'm impressed: so much
work to "décortiquer" these pieces, it must be a terrific source
of information for the musicians. I wish you lots of success with them.
--Elsa Grima, Paris
|
 | Many Congratulations!!!! I can only imagine the
countless hours of research but what a wonderful gift for the rest of us and
for musicians many years to come.
--Carol Goff, Mercer College, Georgia

|
 | Hi Mary! Just to congratulate you for those majors
works. Much love,
--Nathalie Stutzmann, Paris, France
|
 | I am so happy about your three books being published,
how great, congratulations. I have gone through the Carmen Guide and
found it so helpful and interesting all that background which I did not
truly know. I'll have to get the Hoffmann one for sure.
--Neva Rego, Honolulu, HI

 | A million thanks for the Hoffmann book and for the
lovely mention of me, that was very sweet, but I'm most happy about now
having a book with everything in it and I'm sure the Carmen will be of
immense help as I embark on this small teaching career. I'm going to
be an Artist in residence at the Univ. of WA. starting next fall.
--Vinson Cole, Seattle, WA
|
 | Congratulations, Mary! The books I've seen--I've
already made Willamette buy the first two--are wonderful, and I'm looking
forward to seeing the third as well.
--Kurt Zeller, Portland, OR
|
 | Congratulations, Mary. I just asked one of my
artistic associates to order the CARMEN title. I look forward to
looking at it. What a job that must have been! All the best,
--Susan Ashbaker, Opera Philadelphia

 | Thanks so much for the Claves recording of the Leguerney
songs. Reading your recent book has inspired me to pull out my scores
and revisit these pieces.
Congrats, too, on the Carmen book. It is
an excellent book, and a welcome contribution to the literature.
I am teaching at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, and enjoying it very
much. (Now if I could just lower the humidity!)
Hope all is well.
--Debbie Greschner, Beaumont, TX

 | Dear Mary, I am a vocal coach at Boston Conservatory
(Boston, MA) and have already made use of your wonderful book on Leguerney -
it is so helpful to have such a comprehensive reference source on this
under-appreciated composer!
--Anne Tyson

 | I am a soprano who met you at the Nats conference at
Rutgers and then worked with you a couple of times in Paris. I wanted to
congratulate you and Patrick and Carol on the publication of your Leguerney
book. I just bought it! It is beautiful and an absolutely excellent
reference tool for me since I have enjoyed singing and teaching many of
Leguerney's compositions. Thank you for this important work!
--Kathleen Corcoran, Associate Professor of Music,
Vocal Department Head, Augustana University College, Camrose, Alberta

 | Dear Ms Dibbern, My name is Michael Mentzel and I am a voice student at
Indiana University. I am writing to request a list of any upcoming performances or master classes you might be giving either in the midwest or NYC. It wasn't until I began to research the
mélodie of Jacques Leguerney that I discovered your wonderful book and recordings of his music, which I have enjoyed and have found immensely helpful in my own performance.
Any information about your upcoming engagements would be most appreciated. Salutations
distinguées,
--Michael Mentzel
|
 | Hey Mary, I bought your book and love it!
--Marcus Küchle, Artistic Administrator, Cincinnati Opera
|
 | Dear Mary -- Delighted to receive the notice of your new book -- I shall order one right away!
I finally (after having it on my wishlist for years now) got around to acquainting myself with some of the mélodies of Leguerney. First via your fine recording, and then after ordering several volumes for myself. THANK YOU for your great service to all of us in making this music known to a wider audience. Last spring I made sure to include several of his songs in the ArtSong Rep class that I now teach at the university here.
All the best wishes,
--Phil Kelsey, Seattle Opera and University of Washington |
